About the tube feeding

Does each blend provide complete nutrition?

Yes, each blend is a nutritionally complete formula and can serve as the sole source of nutrition.

Why are the blends frozen?

Our products are frozen immediately after preparation to optimally preserve all nutrients. Freezing is a natural preservation method that eliminates the need for additional preservatives. Freezing locks in vitamins and minerals, while fats, proteins, and carbohydrates remain unaffected.

Why does Newly Blend use the current packaging instead of one with a spout?

Our tube feeding is frozen right after preparation to preserve its nutritional value. Before use, it can be thawed quickly by placing the pouch in hot water for 15 minutes. This requires packaging that can withstand both low and high temperatures while meeting quality requirements.

We use food-safe plastic packaging. We consciously chose this over spouted pouches

Why is each pouch 250 ml?

We deliberately chose 250 ml packaging, particularly for younger users, to avoid waste and ensure appropriate portions.

What is the IDDSI level of the blends?

Our blends have been tested and determined to be IDDSI Level 3.

How long is the shelf life?

Frozen: 18 months. Once thawed, the blends last 48 hours in the refrigerator and are fully thawed after 24 hours.

How does Newly Blend ensure consistent nutritional value?

Most of our blends are made with real food ingredients, which naturally vary in nutrient content. We add a tailored mix of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements to ensure consistent nutritional value.

Usage

What feeding tubes are suitable for Newly Blend products?

All blends can be administered with a syringe for nasogastric tubes. The Rice & chicken blend requires a 14 Fr tube. The Pasta & vegetables, Oat & pumpkin, and Fruit, nuts & ginger blends are suitable for 8, 10, 12, and 14 Fr tubes.

Can Newly Blend tube feeding be used with a feeding pump?

Our blends are designed for syringe feeding, but some can be used with a pump under specific conditions. Due to the texture, we advise against using the Rice & Chicken blend with a pump. For the Fruit, Nuts & Ginger blend, we recommend diluting it with 30 ml of water when used with a pump.

When using a pump, the maximum administration time is two hours to maintain food safety and nutritional value. The minimum rate is 125 ml/hour.

Can I use just one blend?

Absolutely. If a client has intolerances, allergies, or ingredient preferences, any blend can be used as the sole source of nutrition.

How should I thaw the blend?

It takes 24 hours to thaw in the refrigerator. You can also thaw and warm it in hot water (au bain-marie). See our full instruction video.

Do I need to heat the blend before administering?

Not necessarily. It’s perfectly fine to administer at room temperature. If preferred, warm gently to a maximum of 35 °C.

How can I take blends on the go?

Place the required amount of thawed blend in a thermos—keeps for 2 hours. Or take the frozen pouch in a cooler bag; keeps for 48 hours at 7 °C.

How can I send the blend to school or day care?

Same as above: use a thermos for up to 2 hours or a cooler bag for up to 48 hours at 7 °C.

How do I take the blend on long trips?

Place the frozen pouches in a cooler bag (48 hrs at 7 °C). In a cooler box with ice packs, they last up to 72 hours.

What if I have allergies, how do I know which blend to choose?

All ingredient and allergen information is listed on our labels and website. A healthcare professional can help determine the right option.

How many pouches per day do I need?

This should be determined by a doctor or dietitian. Sample day menus are available on our website.

How should the blends be spread throughout the day?

A personal feeding schedule should be developed by a doctor or dietitian. Sample day meal plans  are available on our website.

I don’t have a dietitian, where can I go for help?

We can connect you with a local dietitian from our network. Email us at info@newlyblend.com and we’ll get in touch.

Can the tube feeding be taken orally?

Yes, although not developed for taste, some users do take it orally and report that it tastes fine.
